My Norwich City “Leaving XI”

After the Sheffield Wednesday game Glenn Roeder reiterated his intention to completely overhaul his squad with as many as 10-15 players making their exit.

I wrote a post called “15 to go” a couple of months ago when Roeder first said we would be losing “up to 15 players”, and although he said over the weekend that we’ll start to get a better idea of who is staying and isn’t this week, now seems as good a time as any to have another look and take part in some idol speculation.

With that in mind I’ve put together a full team of players who I think may well not be around come August:

Goalkeeper

Matty Gilks. Gilks has said before that he feels he may need to leave the club in order to play first-team football, and was left out of the squad entirely for the Sheffield Wednesday game.

Defence

Mo Camara. Camara will be heading back to Derby after his loan spell, where he has one year left on his contract.

Gary Doherty. The Ginger Pele is out of contract and could be one of the victims as Roeder tries to build a “winning mentality” at the club.

Alex Pearce. Also at the end of his loan spell so will be returning to Reading, although Roeder has made it clear he would welcome the youngster back with open arms.

Juan Valesco. Out of contract at the end of the season and didn’t do enough in my opinion to warrant a new deal.

Midfield

Kieran Gibbs: Already back at Arsenal following his loan spell, Gibbs made the bench for the Gunners’ game with Everton on Sunday.

Rossi Jarvis. The Fakenham youngster has hardly featured under Roeder, and few would be surprised if he was shipped out. Northampton have been linked with his signature.

Darren Huckerby. Hucks has made it clear he wants to stay at the club but as yet no offer has been forthcoming. Celtic or the States could come calling if Roeder decides his time is up.

Simon Lappin. The Scot has been on loan at Motherwell since January and few would expect him to line up in Canary colours come the new season.

Forwards

Dion Dublin. The 39-year old legend bowed out of the game after the Sheffield Wednesday game and is expected to go into media work.

Ched Evans. The Welshman goes back to Manchester City following his successful loan spell. We’d all love to have him back.
