Canary Watch: Earnie to join Forest from Derby?

Looks like Captain Loyal is going to leave Derby for their local rivals Nottingham Forest.

I still can’t really make my mind up about Earnie. He’s definitely goals, goals, goals in the Championship, but cannot seem to cut it in the Premier League.

With all due respect I can’t for the life of me work out why he’d want to join Forest though – if they don’t make it up into the Premier League next season does anyone seriously expect him to stick around?

That said, I’d have him back. Would you?

  2. “With all due respect” but you show Forest little respect. The reason Robert Earnshaw would join Nottingham Forest from Derby is because Nottingham Forest are a much bigger club than Derby or any of his previous clubs. Forest may have been languishing in the 3rd division for the past 3 years but the support is still massive and Forest could quite easily follow the examples of Manchester City & Bristol City and make it 2 promotions in 2 seasons, leep frogging the championship in one season. You are right though he is Mr Championship striker and that is why Forest want him.

  3. As a Nottingham Forest supporter (and a very happy one following our promotion) I would relish the opportunity to see Robert Earnshaw in the Garibaldi Red.

He still remains the only player to score a hat-trick at all four levels of the English game, International level, League Cup AND FA Cup so he has the quality providing his head is screwed on.

Give him the chances and he will get you goals at Championship level which is exactly what Forest need as I doubt Ormerod will make his loan permanent, Tyson is injury prone, Holt is out-of-favour and Agogo has lost interest and will probably go to the Bundesliga.

The only downside is the Sheffield United interest as Kevin Blackwell wants him and has Rob Hulse on offer to part-exchange who is wanted by Paul Jewell.

I would imagine he might be tempted by Bramall Lane ahead of the City Ground as no matter what people say, the Blades are more geared for a return to the Premiership than Forest at this moment in time.
