As Newcastle release Peter Ramage, does 2+2 equal a new City number 5?

The new central defender that the Canaries are screaming out for could have been found after Newcastle announced that 24-year old Peter Ramage is being released at the end of the current campaign.

Ramage played for the Toon Army under Glenn Roeder and was looked after in the reserves by Roeder’s assistant Lee Clark, so there is undeniably a link already there.

He’s cheap (well, free) which will keep Mr. Doncaster happy, is the right age and (according to Wikipedia at least) he is a versatile defender – and we know how much we like those.

Oh yes – he’ll do for me.

  1. I’m a geordie to be fair, and I’m sad to see him go.

On the other hand I’d be glad to see him go to Roeder and Clarkie and hope he does the business for you boys!

    and yeah he is versatile.

  3. i’m a geordie too and a bit p*ssed he has been released, good defender with a bright future, but lived in the shadow of steven taylor a bit i think and not much luck with his most recent long term injury, if he didn’t have this he would of had more first team opportunities and wouldn’t have been released due to him proving himself i’m sure!! love to see him work with clarky and roader again and he would do a great job for norwich!!

  4. I liked Peter “THE DAMAGE” Ramage while he was at Newcastle. He’s still young and learning his trade but he never tried to hide on the pitch. He always gave a good account for himself (even when playing alongside the hapless Boumsong). Its just a pitty that he had the injury when he did (although theres never really a good time to have an injury is there).

Im surpised he wasnt kept, given a new contract, and THEN sold on. Oh well best of luck to the kid.
