As I reported on the Vital Norwich site this morning, according to today’s Sun newspaper Scunthorpe‘s Martin Paterson could be on his way after the club were linked with the 20-year old forward.
Reports on Sky Sports News suggested that Scunthorpe have already turned down an £850,000 bid from the Canaries.
The 5 foot 9 inch Northern Ireland international has hit 11 goals in 21 appearances so far this season, and despite only joining in the summer for £450,000 from Stoke City (who apparently have a 20% sell-on clause), the Iron could be prepared to sell early rather than risk a cut-price deal if they are relegated to League One.
Meanwhile there still seems to be no progress with the Martin Taylor debacle. With only 48 hours to go in the transfer window it is looking more and more unlikely that any deal will materialise.
Roeder was quoted in the press yesterday as saying –
Martin’s looking very, very doubtful. I wouldn’t be holding my breath about Martin Taylor coming in this week.
All I know is he wants to come here, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.
Well all I know is if he doesn’t come, and it ends up being down to a couple of hunder grand, there are going to be a lot of unhappy people about.
