Rigters from Blackburn is the latest to be linked as City are “winning the race” for Bell – they look pretty cheap too…

Blackburn are apparently willing to listen to offers for Maceo Rigters, he of sign on loan and then get injured fame.

I think he did a pretty good job for us in the few games he played in before his unfortunate injury down at Ashton Gate, and at the prices being quoted (£350,000 – £500,000) seems like pretty good value. We’ll take him.

If Sky Sports are right and we are indeed winning the race for Luton’s David Bell then at the prices I’ve seen quoted (I forget where) then we could be looking at bringing in two good-quality players for less than £1m.

Obviously I haven’t got the faintest idea what Glenn Roeder’s budget is but these two deals – albeit still only rumours – seem like a pretty good start.

And I’ve just remembered – Wes Hoolahan supposedly has a £250,000 buy-out clause doesn’t he? Make that three for about a million then (if we can get him. If Roeder wants him).

I tried to stay neutral, but as much as I do genuinely believe that United have been the best team in Europe this season I still wanted Chelsea to win the Champions League last night.

I can’t help but think I jinxed them. Oh well, there’s always next year John – but if I were you I’d invest in some sturdy footwear over the summer.
