Ex Newcastle and Tottenham boys sign for QPR - they’re going to be good next season aren’t they?

QPR\'s new signings Peter Ramage and Radek Cerny

QPR have signed out of contact Newcastle defender Peter Ramage, and Slavia Prague goalkeeper Radek Cerny (who was on loan at Spurs).

On Saturday Ramage was on my shopping list of 10 for next season, so that’s down to nine almost immediately.

When you flick through the Rangers squad - which already includes players like Damion Stewart, Fitz Hall, Dexter Blackstock, Akos Buzsaky, Patrick Agyemang and Rowan Vine - it becomes pretty clear pretty quickly that there’s a good chance they’re going to be a force next season.

I still think that new badge is rubbish though.

Well done Manchester United

Premier League trophyI’m going to make this brief as I feel dirty just typing it, but you’ve got to take your hat off to Manchester United after they won their 10th Premier League title at the weekend.

I can’t lie, I would rather Arsenal had won but United have definitely been the best team in the Premier League this year so it is well deserved.

They had the best squad, played the best football and scored some of the best team goals I’ve seen in quite a while.

So well done Sir Alex and everyone at United from this Norwich City supporter.

If anyone needs me I’m off to have a shower…

Lies, damn lies and statistics - or how the Premier League say the gap is closing

13 05 2008

Money, money, money

According to this report in the Telegraph, the “smaller” teams in the Premier League now earn proportionally more than in previous seasons - even though the champions Manchester United earned around £50m more than basement club Derby.

The gap between the “big four” and the rest has never been bigger, and, perhaps more worrying for the likes of us, neither has the gap between the bottom of the Premier League and the Championship.
