I’m going to Wembley tomorrow – come on the Fleet!

9 05 2008

I can’t believe I’ve not written about MyFootballClub or Ebbsfleet United on here before.

I’m sure by now everybody knows the idea behind MyFC so I won’t waste any time going over it here (if you are not familiar with the MyFootballClub concept you can visit the website and find out more by clicking here).

Well anywho, I signed up last August and then pretty much waited to see what would happen.

When it was announced that “we” had agreed a deal in principle with Ebbsfleet United of the Blue Square Premier I was pretty pleased, and since then have kind of yo-yo’d between taking an active interest and not doing an awful lot.

What I mean by that is I always take part in the votes and make sure I do my research so I’m going into them “blind”, but I don’t really hang around the forums too much other than just to get a general idea of what’s going on (much as I do with the City message boards I guess).

Tomorrow is a massive day for the Fleet, as we’re playing Torquay in the FA Trophy Final at Wembley, and I’ll be there.

Truth be known I’m a little apprehensive. I’m obviously extremely excited at the prospect of making my first trip to “New” Wembley, but are there going to be hordes of angry Ebbsfleet fans waiting to attack me for not being a “proper” fan?

I hope not – I’ll be wearing my “owner” polo shirt and everything. Come on the Fleet!

Premier League Championship Poll: Manchester United or Chelsea?

9 05 2008

Apparently there’s some sort of big weekend going on in the Premier League (the one that gets all the money and is on the telly all the time), but there are a couple of pretty important issues still to be resolved.

One of them is the title. Manchester United are red-hot favourites going into Sunday’s game at Wigan Athletic, and just need to match Chelsea’s result against Bolton to be crowned champions for the second year in a row.

You can have your say on that little battle here…

Poll: Who is going to win the Premier League title?

Voting will close on Saturday evening, as soon as I remember to disable the links. :)

UPDATE: I decided to split this and the relegation poll into two different posts, just to make them easier to follow. You can vote in the relegation poll by clicking here.

There are quite a few Huckerby videos from YouTube doing the rounds, but this one is definitely my favourite…

Gulp.

Poll Results: Hull City, Bristol City, Watford or Crystal Palace – who is your favourite for the play-offs?

9 05 2008

The results are in on the Championship Play-Offs poll, and it looks like Bristol City are the favourites with 34% of the vote.

Hull City, Bristol City, Watford or Crystal Palace – who is your favourite for the play-offs?

Bristol City – 34%.

Crystal Palace – 30%.

Hull City – 21%.

Watford – 15%.

By this reckoning the game tomorrow between the Robins and the Eagles should be an absolute belter.

Give Hucks and the Norwich fans one more game

9 05 2008

Someone has created a group on Facebook called “Give Hucks and the Norwich fans one more game”.

The idea according to the description of the group, is:

Whether you agree with the decision to release Huckerby or not, us the fans of Norwich and Darren Huckerby were not given the opportunity for a proper send off and we want one more game.

A one off, the proceeds to charity how about a Darren Huckerby XI vs Manchester City or someone of the like?

Let’s show the club with out silly protests how many fans want to see Hucks @ Carrow Road one final time.

We love you Darren Huckerby, a true City Legend.

It’s only been setup for a few days and the group already has over 500 members, so if you have a Facebook account (and as you are currently on t’internet you’re bound to have one), why not head over there and sign up now? It only takes a second…

UPDATE: There’s an online petition now as well in case you don’t have a Facebook account. You can sign it here.
