Manchester United’s Carlos Tevez: A little help required…

3 05 2008

There’s no doubt that Carlos Tevez is an exceptional footballer.

There’s also no doubt that he’s an exceptionally ugly little b*gger, but I’m struggling to work out whether I think he looks more like an extra from Blade, Taz or the Incredible Hulk.

Can anyone help?

UPDATE: For any Man Utd fans this is a Norwich City blog which has nothing to do with Manchester City (other than laughing at them occasionally), and so just to clear up a few points for you yes, I know you’re better than us, yes I know Tevez is better than any of our players (with the possible exception of both Gary Doherty and Luke Chadwick, who are both class and incredibly attractive) and yes, I’ll be sure to watch you play in the Champions League Final. Lighten up!

Sheffield Wednesday v Norwich Preview

3 05 2008

The 2007/2008 regular season comes to an end in the Championship on Sunday, as the Canaries travel to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday.

Sean McAllister could return for the hosts but departing captain Lee Bullen (hamstring) and Burton O’Brien (thigh) miss out.

Glenn Roeder will make at least one change to the side that beat QPR 3-0 last week as Kieran Gibbs has returned to Arsenal following his loan spell, so I would expect Darel Russell or Luke Chadwick to step in. Dion Dublin, playing the last game of his illustrious career will surely feature.

A win will guarantee safety for the Owls, and a draw (or even defeat) would also be enough to avoid relegation should either Leicester or Southampton fail to beat Stoke and Sheffield United respectively, but Brian Laws isn’t expecting an easy ride:

We have a job to do now, the same as Norwich, who have a responsibility like every other club in this division, to perform to the best of their ability.

It would be unfair and unjust on the teams around us if they came here and switched off, so I know they’ll come here with the right attitude and give us a game and look to win.

A bumper crowd is expected so it should be a great atmosphere generated by both sets of supporters (why, oh why did I not get a ticket?).

A few facts…

League Position: Sheff Wed 20th, Norwich 16th.

Last Meeting: 29th September 2007 – Norwich 0 Sheff Wed 1.

Last Meeting at Hillsborough: 6th May 2007 – Sheff Wed 3 Norwich 2.

Top Goalscorer: Sheff Wed – Tudgay (8), Norwich – Cureton (14).

Recently Played for Both Clubs: Leigh Bromby, Paul Gallacher.

My Prediction: When I originally made my predictions I went for a draw, and I think that’ll still be the case – and I think it’ll be enough to keep Wednesday in the Championship. Sheffield Wednesday 1 Norwich City 1.

You’re not the only one ‘Arry…

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is said to be puzzled by the Welsh FA’s decision to overturn the red card Darren Purse received for putting a nice hole in Andy Cole’s leg, thus making him now available for the FA Cup Final:

I do not want to see the boy missing the FA Cup final but it is a bit farcical.

Cardiff play in the English league, play in the English cup, want to qualify to represent England in the Uefa Cup and then when they get a player sent off it goes before the Welsh FA.

Here here Harry. Talk about wanting to have your cake and eat it.
