Quotes of the Week: 16th March 08

16 03 2008

Craig FlemingCraig Fleming reflects on his time with the Canaries:

I had some great times at Oldham, playing in the Premiership for three or four years and in FA Cup semi-finals, but the place I feel I belong to is Norwich.

Maybe it was the age period I played for City, but that’s where I played my best football and being named Player of the Season in 2004 at the same time as leading City to promotion was the highlight.

Glenn Roeder is a fan of Shola Ameobi:

I think he’s a fantastic player, certainly rated much more highly by me than lots of other people who tend to like headless chickens running round the place who don’t score.

And has a few words of advice for his younger players:

They have got to work hard if they want to stay at Norwich. They have got to work harder than they have done in the past. I think they have thought for too long this is a joyride here – it’s not.

Ryan Bertrand tries to be realistic about his future at Chelsea, and leaves the door open for a return to Norwich next season:

Chelsea is a very big ask. You have to be realistic. They’ve got Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge still. Obviously I’d like to (and) if the chance came then I would, but I’d be happy enough playing my football here at Norwich. It’s a nice family club and it’s in a nice area so it’s gone really well.

Championship Predictions: 16th March 2008

16 03 2008

I’ve been having a play with the BBC Football Predictor and can exclusively reveal that the Canaries will finish 17th this season on 54 points.

West Bromwich Albion and Bristol City take the two automatic promotion places, the play-offs are made up of Watford, Stoke City, Ipswich Town and Plymouth Argyle, and the relegated teams will be Colchester United, Scunthorpe United and Coventry City.

Coca-Cola Championship Final League Table (according to my predictions):

  1. West Brom (87pts)
  2. Bristol City (86pts)
  3. Watford (84pts)
  4. Stoke (82pts)
  5. Ipswich (75pts)
  6. Plymouth (74pts)
  7. Wolves (73pts)
  8. Palace (70pts)
  9. Charlton (65pts)
  10. Hull (65pts)
  11. Sheff Utd (64pts)
  12. Cardiff (62pts)
  13. Burnley (62pts)
  14. Leicester (56pts)
  15. QPR (56pts)

  17. Norwich (54pts)
  18. Southampton (54pts)
  19. Blackpool (51pts)

  21. Preston (48pts)
  22. Coventry (46pts)
  23. Scunthorpe (44pts)
  24. Colchester (34pts)

I’m going to be re-visiting the predictor each week as the season draws to a close so hopefully we’ll get a clearer view on where we are – and just as importantly where everybody else is.

Fingers crossed it’ll help me with my nerves!
