Major surgery on its way according to Doncaster

13 03 2008

Chief Executive Neil Doncaster has followed Roger Munby’s lead and said that money will be available for Glenn Roeder this summer:

The reality is that there will be major surgery and the board will make as much money available as possible.

Fundamentally what’s important is making money available to the manager and then hoping he uses it wisely. What he spends it on is up to him.

Doncaster has his critics and those who disagree with his “prudence with ambition” ethos, but I’ve always been an admirer of his and don’t envy his job one bit.

I quite like the second paragraph. It serves as a timely reminder to us all how easy it is to forget that the board did back Peter Grant in the transfer market last summer. What unfortunately isn’t so easy to forget is that on the whole he bought crap players (although there are some notable exceptions).

Ian Murray

Ian Murray got sent off playing for Hibs last night in an SPL game against Motherwell.

Still, I’m sure he won’t mind as he’s bound to still be having fun (is it wrong that it still annoys me?).

It probably is, isn’t it? Oh well, I’ll survive. :)
