Barnsley Preview

23 02 2008
Lee Croft scores against Barnsley last season

This afternoon the Yellows welcome Barnsley to Carrow Road.

The Tykes are riding on the crest of a wave after shocking Liverpool in the FA Cup last week, and City will be hoping that they’ve taken their eye off the ball when they come to town.

A few facts…

League Position: Norwich 13th, Barnsley 14th.

Last Meeting: 12th January 2008 - Barnsley 1 Norwich 3.

Last Meeting at Carrow Road: 26th August 2006 - Norwich 5 Barnsley 1.

Top Goalscorer: Norwich - Cureton (8), Barnsley - Howard (10).

Recently Played for Both Clubs: Tony Warner.

Fascinating Fact: If you’re going to the game tomorrow look at your ticket. That game going on in the background is last season’s game against the Tykes, as demonstrated here!

My Prediction: Roeder’s men will be looking to get back on track after last week’s battering at Leicester, and I think they will do it. 1-0 Norwich.

Police brutality

23 02 2008

Once again an English club plays away in Europe and returns home with reports of “over-zealous and disproportionate” policing.

This time it was Bolton’s turn to apparently get battered by foreign police. Why does this keep happening? Are English supporters really that bad, or is it just a hangover from the bad old days? I wish I knew.

I tell you what did surprise me though. Apparently there were 3,500 Bolton fans there. Where’d they all come from?
